Grand News Journal welcomes well-shaped pitches that help readers understand how rural news is framed, sourced, located or placed in context. We value a distinct question, a careful scope and prose that stays clear of unsupported certainty.

Ideas that fit

Pitch explainers, comparisons, histories of news conventions, close readings of language and source roles, or reader-friendly approaches to following one developing story. A strong idea has a clear subject and gives readers a way to see something differently without relying on private access or professional advice.

What to include

Use the Contact page to send a short outline, the central question, the category it might fit and a few lines about your approach. Mention any important limits, uncertainties or materials the piece would depend on. A proposal is enough; please do not send a complete article unless requested.

Before sending

Contributions should be original, carefully checked and written in plain English. Avoid invented examples presented as fact, unverified claims, promotional copy and pitches that depend on confidential material. Sending a proposal does not guarantee publication.
