Editorial policy
Grand News Journal aims to make the reading of rural news clearer, fairer and more attentive to what is known. Articles explain conventions and questions readers can apply themselves; they do not claim to replace original reporting or settle every disputed account.
Accuracy and context
We check factual statements against the material available to us, use precise wording and distinguish fact, interpretation and uncertainty. We avoid presenting an inference as an established finding, and give enough context for readers to understand the scope of a claim. Where a subject changes over time, we take care not to imply that an older description is current.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for relevance to the publication's subject and readers. Paid, sponsored or partner material is identified clearly as such and kept distinct from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage or editorial approval.
Corrections
If a factual error is brought to our attention, we review the point and correct the text when warranted. Material clarifications are made plainly so readers can understand what changed; a correction is not used to disguise an important revision.
Images and illustrations
Illustrations are chosen to support the subject and are not presented as documentary evidence unless that is clear from their context. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when relevant, this is disclosed alongside the image or its caption.
